Pioneer DJ DJM-A9

The Pioneer DJ DJM-A9 is a powerful club-standard 4-channel professional DJ mixer that replaces its renowned predecessor, the DJM-900NXS2. It brings massive upgrades, beautiful sound quality, new features, excellent connectivity and enhanced playability.

Enhanced Sound Quality

The clear, precise and natural sound quality has been improved thanks to the in-built ESS Technology 32-bit high-quality A/D converter in the channel input section and D/A converters in the master and booth output sections. In addition, new components have been added to the microphone input and headphone output, which helps assist with enhanced fine-tuning and improved construction.

Atheistically Pleasing and Useful

The DJMA9 has retained the familiar layout from the DJM range with some additional visual enhancements to provide accurate mixing and instinctual scratching. Some of the new additions and improvements include spacing around the EQ knobs, slicker channel faders and Magvel Fader, the addition of bright LEDs to the channel section, making it easier to visually see sound levels and a world-first Centre Lock feature for the Sound Color FX which when on makes sure there isn’t accidental crossover between hi and low parameters.

Pioneer DJ have revamped the X-Pad, which is now positioned horizontally for easier finger sliding. The Beat FX is now more intuitive to use as a result of the new colour display, a dedicated button has been introduced for the Beat FX channel selector, the Multi I/O section has had an upgrade to offer truer send capabilities, and three additional Beat FX (Mobius, Triplet Filter and Triplet Roll) have been added to make a total of fourteen. In addition, the frequency response of the isolators has been optimised to enable dynamic performance and make the most of the most recent music production behaviours.

The microphone section on the DJM-A9 has had a mini revamp with a phantom power supply added to the mic input, which means a condenser mic can be connected to provide super high-quality vocal sound, making it a first within the industry. Additionally, there are three new mic effects (Echo, Pitch and Megaphone), a dedicated reverb effect and a push-to-talk button which quickly turns the mic input on or off.

Connections

The DJM-A9 DJ mixer features multiple inputs/outputs, including dual sets of USBs, Type-B and Type-C (there are two of each). This allows two PCs or Macs to be connected running rekordbox or Serato DJ Pro, making DJ handover easy and effortless. Tracks can also be played from other devices, e.g. mobiles, through Bluetooth or MD input. The audio can be directed to any of the channels and have all of the mixer’s effects applied. In addition, the Pioneer DJM A9 mixer has true send capabilities thanks to an independent channel selector, which means external effects can be used separately from Beat FX.

Dual headphone inputs mean two headphones can be connected simultaneously, allowing for flexibility in monitoring channels. There are also separate cue buttons, mix balance knobs, volume knobs for each set of headphones, and 2-band booth EQ.

Pioneer DJ DJM-A9 features Wi-Fi connectivity which is also built into the mixer providing a whole series of benefits, including the use of a new app, Stagehand, which is a PRO DJ LINK remote management app and another industry first. The app remotely monitors information from the mixer, along with being able to control certain functions. This is possible via an iPad wirelessly connected to the same LAN router as the decks. This is great for additional engineers to adjust necessary sound system settings without entering the booth or disturbing the DJ.

Software

The mixer is compatible with rekordbox, including any impending versions. Serato DJ Pro can also be used, and DVS control is supported.
